Release Date: 9/17/96
Kirk Laktas
Robert Ovetz
Karen Palazzini
“Ultrasound Analogic offer a Ph.D. course in drone-ology to deep space-rock thinkers, sine-wave surfers, void dwellers, holy isolationists, disenchanted Spacemen 3 fans and connoisseurs of microtonal fluctuations.” -Alternative Press
“The minimal drones populating the large expanse of this album form a suggestive aural picture: dark, slowly moving sound textures that might relate to soundtrack music; quiet, bareley-there loops of sound that are the distant cousins of everyday environmental noise; lovely, hypnotic sounds that tug at our expectations about the need for structure to define music.” -CMJ
Ultrasound’s second release (the first being the ultrasound*Woonsocket LP) was a double LP with the intentions of providing music throughout one’s day. The names of the sides belied their appropriate listening times (“Noite,” “Dormir,” “Dimineata,” and “Late, Lazy Afternoon.”) Produced by Adam Witzie of Stars of the Lid, ultrasound’s music is based on slowly shifting abstraction. Minimal sounds intermingle in an atmosphere, where deep listening provides extensive rewards.
